The eviction can be carried out without court action.   Using the Common Law, our Certificated Enforcement Agents (bailiffs) will serve the travellers or gypsies with an eviction notice. This provides them with a reasonable amount of time to leave. Where we are conducting a same day eviction, our officers will remain on site to ensure they leave and no other vehicles arrive on site.

The Law provides a number of reasons why a gypsy encampment can be evicted immediately:

• They have broken onto the land – e.g. snapped padlock, broken gate or taken down fencing
• The group have been threatening or abusive to the landlord, tenant or their agents
